Hell hath no fury like a woman (or a man I might add) scorned. It all started with a divorce between a couple who thought things would work out. Unfortunately, it didn’t.

The agreement between the soon-to-split spouses was that the client was legally entitled to a large sum of cash meant for his kids’ higher education.

But the client was worried his soon-to-be ex-wife might be vindictive and change her mind; she still technically had access to the money, and she could take from his kids’ college funds. Granted, she’d be in the wrong if she took the money, but it would take a lot of effort, emotion, and legal fees to get the money back.

To avoid this headache, we set up an irrevocable trust for him.

We drafted the trust documents, he signed, the funds went into the trust, and the trust’s funds are now out of reach from the ex-wife. All within a couple of days.

But, more importantly, the client’s kids now have guaranteed funds to go to college, and the client saved himself from a major headache (and from a lot of legal fees).

One of the advantages to using attorneys who specialize in estate planning is that there are numerous creative and legal ways to solve real, everyday problems. Doesn’t matter whether it’s divorce, a severe medical emergency, or simply planning for the future.

Legion Law helped this client, and we’d be happy to help you too.
